Case Study 5

Leadership Excellence and Execution

One summer morning I opened my email to see that a widely respected non-profit organization was requesting a proposal from us for Leadership Development and Executive Coaching. I arranged to speak with the Vice President of Human Resources and the Vice President of Community Operations.

After an initial contract to coach a new manager on “interpersonal skills, professionalism and establishing credibility and sustaining a positive reputation” - I was asked for another meeting.

Both vice presidents were happy with the coaching and the results achieved. Now they wanted to discuss learning and development for the senior leadership team. The desired outcomes for the group were a better grasp of the strategic plan and executing on the key objectives through their people. I was told about the various leaders strengths and challenges. Together we determined that the Leadership Excellence program would be customized to incorporate a goal setting section focused specifically on each team’s responsibility in delivering a result that tied into the strategic plan.

As you will see on the home page, we facilitated workshops addressing the five levels of leadership maturity. These were interactive, and addressed real world issues within the organization. Sixteen of the senior leaders, including the CEO attended 2 day long workshops. At the end of the program we handed out an evaluation allowing people to remain anonymous if they chose to and asking for feedback. The senior team’s overall rating for all aspects of the program averaged 96%. The Vice President of Human Resources comment was,” Great job – format and content met all expectations.”

We have since been asked to facilitate ongoing leadership development and coaching for supervisors, managers and leaders. It is a joy to partner with this progressive and effective team of leaders!
